Thanks for the nice words, everyone! Now, I just hope they sell some
books.

Mindy, your time frame sounds very reasonable. Mine was an exceptional
case with a ridiculous deadline. I only had about a month from start to
finish and that included dozens of sketches in scratchboard, full-size
comps- also in scratchboard, all the scanning and e-mailing and changing
things back and forth to the publisher's specifications, and finally the
ten, 10" x 8" full-sized wood engravings. And there were also the 3 or 4
completed blocks that they changed things on towards the end - so I had to
do new ones. So, it was pretty much 12 hour days, 7 days a week until
deadline! But, I do have to say that I would do it all again...

Dear Baren members,
StoneMetal Press has a new email address, info@stonemetal-press.com, and if you are interested in getting news about our programs or exhibitions, you may contact us to be added to our list.
Sometimes it seems that artists do not appreciate what it takes for a gallery, nonprofit or not, to display and sell their work. We feel that by selling artists' work, we are helping printmakers to afford continue their artistic life, and we work hard at it. We also educate students grades to college as well as the general public with lectures, gallery talks and demonstrations, to help build an audience for printmaking arts.
We have an exceptionally good turnout here for exhibitions. The  First Friday art walk brings in an average of 1000 people just that one night. We are in a major tourist and convention visitor site.
We do alot of PR work, and stay open 6 days a week. Volunteers donate hundreds of hours to sit the gallery, maintain address lists, send out mailings, make signs and labels, record sales, write grants. The average cost of staying open and having each month's exhibition is $4,000 (FOUR thousand dollars), and is subsidized by the landlord (Blue Star Art Complex), donations and grants. From all exhibition income, including art sales and entry fees, we earn only an average $1,250 a month.
I hope you will want to be a part of our campaign to increase knowlege of and audience for printmakers.
Yours,
Le Green

So far 20 packages from the post office one may have 2 sets of prints in it
but I have not opened them as yet. Given the nature of my crowded apt. they
will keep better unopened until I have to distribute them.

Thanks so much to Diane Cutter for being a great coordinator and
creating a lovely handmade portfolio with a beautiful silver cord. What
a very nice variety of prints for our "Dreams and Visions" Exchange!

I need to apologize and explain.
The doctors had scheduled my neck surgery for Oct. 28th., which would
have given me plenty of time to cut, print and mail. Then they moved
the surgery date back to Sept. 5th, and it has been hard.
I am 90% done with the edition and should finish this weekend.
The print is really cool, nothing like I have ever done before, out
of necessity and invention.
Can't carve much, can't look down.
Can't print much, hurts too dang much. Can usually only get 10
prints printed at a time.
So far, 5 color reduction block.

Thanks, I hope, for understanding.

P.S. Otherwise, neck feels great and the numbness is gone from the
arms.

Oh my goodness, Dan! You are going above & beyond what most of us
would be willing to do. I hope for your speedy recovery & not just
back to
normal - but much much better than normal! Can't wait to see the print!

Thanks, Bette and to all you others who have emailed me. It was a fun exchange with so much talent here. I really look forward to meeting the faces behind the work when the big 2006 print-fete gathers in Vancouver...

The package from Cate and Annie Fitt *does* have 2 sets of prints. We share
the same last name and sometimes the same package/postage but we are 2
different people and artists.
