You know YOU inspired me to get a shop! Did I neglect to say so? But, it was in January. Not many sales yet, but I have had some great things happen because of having the shop!

If my turtle was featured I missed it!

Robert Vianna (sorry if I spelled this wrong) has a shop too, any other baren folk?

Maria,
Come in out of the rain....

As to printmaking stuff...I recently used a paper from McClains called Daphne...it was a huge sheet and I liked it very much only to find out the manufacturer is not making it any more...however it seems someone else is making it for a little more money...why am I not surprised. At any rate it worked well and I liked it. Of course nothing compares to the Yamaguchi paper or the Iwano paper...but this was a lot less money!
It was tan colored and textural...and even though it was heavy, it worked well damp.
best to all of you guys out there in the rain with Maria...

Maybe I forgot that you mentioned it. I can be kind of ditzy sometimes. Your
shop looks really good.

Try spending some time on the forums to get more exposure. It seems to help
a lot. Not just sellers frequent the forums.

I don't have one yet but plan to move my prints from eBay over to Etsy. It seems a much better venue... and I've been encouraged by Marissa's example, also.

Hi,

I had one of my dog prints returned to me as the address label had (tragically) fallen off. The problem was that I had used glue that was both cheap and old. Hopefully there is not a correlation between the qualities of the glue and the artist that sent this out. Judging from the postage amount, it is one of the cards sent inside the U.S.A... If you are on the list, live in the U.S. and have not received your dog print from me from me, please let me know.

Thanks,

-Kent Kirkpatrick

It is nice to hear that I have been bringing people over to Etsy. I *heart*
Etsy! It is such a cool environment. It is a lot more user friendly and the
people (buyers and sellers) are so nice. The only thing that I was able to
sell on eBay were artist cards, and I have all but stopped doing that now. I
highly recommend Etsy to anybody here that has prints to sell.

Ellen,
I think any questions or comments on print related stuff are alwqys welcome...I started the whole clamp down thing with my post railling at the stupid nigerian letters...so it was my fault. However...I am usually posting once a day or less and trying to stay print related on the main list so am sorry if anyone felt intimidated.

Mike Lyon was the intimidator and I certainly should have known better, being on the council and all. Having known Mike for a really long time I just shrugged and said oh well, I goofed up, as I knew his post was not personal and he generally likes me. I appologize for both of us if anyone felt intimidated and decided not to post because of it. I know Mike would feel terrible if anyone left the list because of this. He will be sure to let me know it is all my fault.. :~)))

This list goes up and down as far as activity goes...those of us who have been on it for years tend to be a bit quiet to let new people post, but we consider no question stupid or unwelcome and gladly will help you or find you the answers in the encyclopedia. Hunting for stuff yourself can be a bit daunting if you don't know where or how to look for it.

We want to encourage art related conversations and in the past have had some wonderful verbal exchanges going about artists who have influenced us and printmakers we admire. Anyone wanting to start such a discussion will be welcome to do so. I think a discussion about different schools of printmaking would be wonderfully interesting...I am a Thomas Hart Benton (American) admirer, as well as Gertrude Hermes (English) Their styles are quite different but both are great story tellers with their work.

I think all of us consider the 10 people actively posting the only ones here, but the list is almost 400 addresses...a scary thing to think every post hits 400 people. That in itself keeps me quite usually....I just flipped out that day over the stupid letters from Nigeria. Please do post, group all your replys into one and send them on to us!

This is the best group on the internet...no question about it, and we are all looking forward to the real time meeting in August. It will be a blast and 1/2, I promise you! I don't know if we can figure out a way to have a web cam like Mike did in Kansas City...but we will certainly take lots of pictures and post them to some blog...hahhahaha...sorry, I could not resist that!
Best to all,
Barbara
