Thanks Jeff Dean for posting about the woodcut show in Buffalo. I'm gobbling
up information about woodblock like "some kind of weird food" (to quote
James Baldwin), so I Google every new artist I read about on the forum. I
agree with you about the work of Endi Poskovik. The site I found was a joy
to behold:

Maria, it was fun to see your studio. I envy you all that space! I'm working
in my small home office, which was already too small before I started
carving wood. My blocks are getting bigger and bigger and I'm really feeling
the pinch. I'm currently in negotiations with family members to trade some
spaces.

Have any of you ever overprinted white, moku hanga style? What do you
suppose would be the most opaque water-based pigment one could use?

Michael, beautiful drawing on that block! Maria, loved the studio tour.
Since I wiill be planning out my studio this summer and next, whenever we
get to that part of the house it gave me a few ideas. You have a great work

Hi Annie,

Although I've never tried it, I think you could overprint white
with goauche - sp? Other colors will work with that medium
also as it is pigment heavy compared to the pigment dispersions
that are usually used in Hanga.

Maria,

thank you for the virtual tour of the studio, is a lot different than what
I remember from older pics, you are amazingly organized....love all those
mail-slot bins for
smaller prints and papers and what a clever idea to dry your prints
overhead...is that an oil heater I see below your rotaty tools ????? you
need heat in Las Vegas ?

I'm organized because I HATE to look for stuff, that's all. The studio was
rearranged completely from last year.

Brrrrr..yes, I confess I get cold in the studio, when the temperature drops
to 40...brrrrrr :-)
The studio is about 10 degrees colder than the house, which I keep around 68
in the winter. Kitties get cold. I get cold sitting and carving, when
printing that's a different story.
In the summer I have a water-cooler-fan, as the house is kept around 82 and
the studio is about 10 degrees hotter.

Maria, in Scottsdale at the moment, waiting to set up for Tempe's
festival...

I love all the mailing bins also. I also like that you can raise and lower your drying racks-ingenious.

Touring your studio reminded me that I wanted to ask you a question about the puzzle project. Is it ok to proof our contributions before we send them back to you?
