Dear EVERYONE,

I am SO sorry to have broadcast what was intended to be a private
note to a new member -- I'd cc'd the forum temporarily only in order
to cut and paste the email address for posting, then I forgot to
remove the cc before I pressed send (and then I immediately yelled
ARRRrrrrrgh!! But it was too late!)...

Sincerest apology!!!

Mike

Charles -- I have NOT received any sign-up from you and I have NOT A
CLUE what may have gone wrong! Nothing from you in my JUNK box,
either... I accept your 12:59PM April 2 note as your sign-up and am
adding your name to the list this morning!

Thanks,

Mike

Dear Bea,

Sorry, but I believe that you ARE "participant #28" in exchange #28
(and the holding pen for #29) -- best get printing, girlfriend!

Here's a copy of your sign-up which seems to have originated from a
California ISP:

Thanks, Mike. I do not have a clue ... I have lost a few brain cells over
the years, but I thought I was still competent to fill out the sign-up
sheet. So, that is twice I filled it out, and nothing got to you ... pretty
strange ... (play Twilight Zone theme here)

Cheers .... Charles

Been a quiet lurker, but am excited to print the nude. being an oily printmaker here in Las Vegas has been grand, I teach intaglio and litho and am considering going to water base for my intaglio class. Has anybody twinked with water based intaglio inks and are they condusive in this arid environment in Vegas? I am afraid it will be like trying to print with scummy bubblegum!

Dear Mike
While I have been a member of Baren since last fall, I haven't participated
in an Exchange before. I have a couple of questions.

1. In reading the Exchange protoccol, it seems that there is a limit of 30
participants. You mentioned in a post that you already have 30 members
signed up, so is there any point in signing up now? (I didn't that the
number would be this small or that sign-up took place so fast!!)

2. While I have posted on the List several times, and have had much more
contact off-list with members (I have learned much from answers to some of
my beginner printer questions!), I have not posted a "personal introduction"
on the List, and therefore, am I considered "an active member," or does this
make me ineligible to participate at present?

The nude is a current focus in my own work, mostly in ink painting and
watercolour, as I am finally back into life drawing.

Thanks.
Oscar

Hey there quiet lurker,
Welcome to the light. You should try Graphic Chems water based inks, they seem to hold up pretty well, and I've never noticed them looking like 'scummy bubble gum'...

Exchange #29 (The Nude) is turning out to be pretty popular -- 44
have signed up for exchange #29 at this moment and you were the
44th! We try to allow every Baren member to participate in
exchanges, so sign-ups from those who were 'in' (not waitlisters) the
previous exchange when sign-up begins are appended to the end of the
exchange participant list one week after sign-up begins... So even
though you were the 44th to sign up for #29, you are number
twenty-eight in the participant list (the other 16 were in exchange
#28), so you are 'IN' this nude exchange FOR SURE! If you decide
you will not be able to complete the prints, then you must drop out
(email coordinator29@barenforum.org) prior to July 1 or you may be
barred from future exchanges for up to one year. This allows time
for waitlisters to take your place and deliver prints on
time. Please carefully read and understand the complete exchange
specification here: http://barenforum.org/exchange/exchange_29/exchange_29.html

You've posted to Baren Forum several times recently -- that makes you
"an active member" and eligible to participate in exchanges, so this
is no problem! You're IN, man, you're IN! Look forward to seeing
your prints later this year!

Best,

Mike

Send Message: To this poster

Well, THIS is a FIRST! 44 sign-ups in 72 hours and not ONE "choose
me! choose me!" to coordinate... This could be a bit of a problem, folks!

OK, here's what I look for in a coordinator:
1) participant (not waitlisted) in the exchange
2) successfully completed at least one exchange already.
3) mailing address inside postal USA
4) never coordinated a Baren Exchange or not coordinated recently
5) reliable and prompt email communication skills
6) bonus for my own well-being: able to digitize prints, zip the
images and email them

Consider whether you fit the list above and take a look at
http://barenforum.org/exchange/for_coordinators.html for intimidating
job description (but DON'T be intimidated, of course -- coordinating
is charitable, fun, challenging, and very interesting), then email me
at coordinator29@barenforum.org and let me know you'd like to
coordinate Exchange #29, The Nude.

Thanks SO much for volunteering -- I'll give you a few days to
contact me, then will contact those of you who generously volunteer
and we'll decide who will coordinate -- sound about right?

I'm willing to consider a 'salon de refuse' for #29 -- but let's wait
and see what the numbers look like in a week or two -- 44 isn't
enough as we've been experiencing quite a high number of drop-outs in
recent exchanges -- we'll need at least a dozen more to support a
salon, and a coordinator volunteer for the 2nd group, too... Keep
those sign-ups coming, folks, and if you've participated in a prior
exchange or several, don't hesitate to click "Choose me, choose me!"
to coordinate!

Hi all,

I'm new! Well some people may know me from another list. But for those who don't I am a printmaker in Tasmania (Australia). I am currrently working on my masters, part time. My main techniques have been lithograph and etching, but I am keen to work more with lino and woodblock. I have tried a couple of lino, but NEVER a woodcut! I see this as a long learning path, rather than a quick overnight venture. Part of the reason that I want to develop these methods is the very simple fact that they are easier to work with at home when there is no press around! Thats on the agenda, but not affordable at present. My website is
