A lot of interest in a political exchange .....if this gets going will it be an official or unofficial exchange? Want to be a part of it and willing to coordinate.

As for the trees ..... I live among them and love it .... they are peace inducing, beautiful, give us clean air, wildlife habitat, hold hillsides together, and in my mountainous neighborhood a political football ..... Anyone not heard of clearcutting and mega-houses?

That's right! Trees can definitely be political, too.

Yes Barbara I believe you expressed what I thought about an election theme. What election or whose election. However any elections outcome in whichever corner of the world will affect someone or entire tribes somewhere else in the world. As you said it could be more about human condition. May be the theme could focus more on big issues in the world which will be affected by any outcome of an election. hunger, nuclear prolifiration, people moving, species threatened with extiction, oppression etc.etc.

So what's there to be afraid of in a political theme?Powerful work?
Meaningful work?Speaking the truth as you see it is not always for the faint of
heart.Guernica was such an incredibly important piece because of the courage of one
man.I'm glad Picasso didn't listen to those who told him to play it safe. The
work that survives over the centuries almost always has an underlying message,
in the tradition that we follow look how the Japanese had to circumvent
censorship, but they didn't give up.The image encapsulates and distills feeling so
strongly ,surely thats why we do it;if it could be said in words why paint it ?
I feel its all about intention, if you want to insult someone then
you're going to do it anyway; if you want to raise awareness of an issue then
there's a risk that those who prefer not to acknowledge it may try and silence you.
For me ,to stimulate dialogue on a difficult issue is the only way to grow as
a human being,it may be painful but often, so is growth. It forces us to
confront the choices we make everyday and to question the wisdom of the path we
chose.
It can also be done with love and compassion. Is art without love worth
anything anyway? Ultimately, that is the greatest challenge.I believe that as
artists that is what we are here for.But then that's just my opinion
