This photographic portfolio is reminiscent of 56 views of Mt. Fuji, but the
icon is WTC against remains of earlier decrepit structures etc. Very
beautiful and evocative:

I think that creating a book full of 911 prints is a GREAT idea! If you do
this count me in. After all, an image is worth a thousand words!

Rob,
Several of us saw an example of LULU when we visited with David. I was
quite impressed and think this would be a wonderful way of
disseminating info., both about woodcuts and about 9/11. I would be
willing to help, but I don't want to do money - I am in recovery over
doing the Summit Funds, which incidentally came out almost to the
penny. I was amazed that we had guessed so well - I think I missed a
whole 'nother career in cost estimating, though it would have had to be
in partnership with Barbara for it to have been successful :-)

Count me in on a print, too.

Cheers,
Sharri

The press arrived and was set-up yesterday morning. I am going to use it to print the much larger work that interests me. Rather than making the elements larger, I want to take the detail and extend it. Often, when I engrave my work, I wonder that is happening beyond the edges of the block. By making the block bigger, I hope to find out.

Hi Carol and all,

I am SO behind. I've been nursing one of my little furbabies for the
past month, but she didn't make it--that's been very hard for me. So
now I'm trying to catch up, and get back to carving some blocks.

I really like this paper, even if it is cheap. I've been printing on
thicker stuff; this is a nice change from that. Good to know that
it's pH neutral! Our closest Michael's store is turning more and
more into a scrapbook store...they did away with a lot of the
printmaking things they used to carry.

I have a few prints on my site....I need to work on the index, since
they are sort of hidden and not really organized well.

Hi Wanda,

I need to get out more; I never thought about glueing the pattern
directly to the block, then carving through that. That would solve
several problems.....

thanks, gonna try that!

Hi Sarah,

I tried both sides. The smooth side did print better than the other
side. I found that the fibers from the other side tended to stick to
the block, too. However, it did give an interesting softer look...

I'll definitely check out that link to the Oriental paper site you mentioned...

Hi Barbara,

Thanks for the tips. So far, I haven't had a lot of luck with this,
but need to adjust the ink thickness, etc. I tried both sides, and
like the smooth side better.

I didn't dampen it.....I'll try that, see what happens.
