What is the best blue (oil based) to use under black which won't make
the black turn gray when both are printed in succession (i.e. black
over wet blue).

barbara,
the dako comes from the japanese word for kite (also spelled tako). i make kites based on japanese designs and print them. the kite part is going great, but the printing needs help. i'm glad i found the barenforum. i've been printing with rice paste and watercolor on damp paper (usually goyu, kitakata or sekishu). i found a 'how to' book by keiko hiratsuka moore(the daughter of unichi hiratsuka, my favorite moku-hanga artist) and have been trying to follow her directions, but this group is full of helpful tips too. the thing i need to work on most is sizing the paper properly. i'd love to hear other peoples recipes for sizing paper, especially thin paper like sekishu.

any other paper kite makers out there?
