Print Exchange:
We are doing a small print exchange, and know this is not much time for the busy likes of Bareners, but I hope some of you will join. but we have started planning ahead as well for next year. Then you could start planning for next year, when we will be doing Holiday Ornaments.

Holiday Cookies and Confections Celebration Exchange:

Call for Entries: Small Hand-Pulled Print Exchange.

Paper size is 4" x 6", edition of 14 prints.
Theme is Holiday Cookies and Confections Celebration.
Open to any hand inked printmaking medium.
Deadline is December 1, 2006.

Each artist will receive 12 (1 dozen) assorted sweet prints of
by other artists.
One print will go in the StoneMetal Press Archives and one will be
donated to StoneMetal Press for their Holiday Auction.
The other 12 will go to the exchange.
Giclee, copy machine, & commercial output prints not eligible
for this exchange.

StoneMetal Press is a non-profit fine art printmaking
facility in San Antonio.

All prints will be exhibited at StoneMetal Press
through January 4.
Include an SASE for return of the prints from the exchange.
Enclose a printed or typed note stating your name, city, title of print,
media of print and other details you would like to include.
(limit 100 words). This information will be shared with the recipients of your
prints and kept in the StoneMetal Press’ archival colophon.
Prints will be published on our website: www.stonemetal-press.com.

Hello to everyone!
I was the coordinator for the 29a Salon exchange.
And what an experience!
We had 26 final sets of prints.
I would like to take a minute to say a few things about the exchanges.
I was thrilled to be the first to see the prints in the exchange. There was a fantastic range of styles and interpretations! I applaud you all.
There are few things that seem to always come up with the exchanges.
The deadlines are the biggest problem. There is so much time from when we all sign up to when the prints should be in house. There really should be no reason for some people to be between 8 to 10 weeks late. That is just un-called for. I am sorry if you think that I am being harsh, but I assure you, the majority feels this way. The deadlines exist for a reason. Lets take them more seriously. I have been guilty of this, so I am speaking about myself as well as other members. I would not point any fingers at anyone until I pointed them at myself first.
The next big deal is the postage. Thank you to those kind members that sent extra to cover those that did not send enough or ANY. If you live over-seas and don't send postage, how can you expect your prints to come back? If you send your own prints and they cost you $9.50, why put $8 or only $9 in the pack to cover it?
I know this seems trivial, but when 6 people out of 26 don't send postage and two of them are from very distant lands, it becomes less trivial. If you forget or are unsure if you sent any or enough, just communicate with your coordinator. Coordinators, tell them! Don't hold your tongue.
If you have ever been a coordinator, you know how much work it is. You should understand.
Leave out the interleaving sheets. Print them with enough time to dry so they don't need them.
Try to use good sturdy RE-USABLE packaging.
There are a lot of members in the forum. I think that we should try to exercise a little pier pressure to see that these things go smoothly.
We are here because we love being printmakers. We may all have battles with procrastination, fatigue, time... whatever. We all need to exercise a little more self-discipline, even me. The quality of these discussions and our exchanges are what sets Baren apart from a lot of other such groups. I hope that we will not let that quality slide away.
These exchanges have been the better part of my entire printmaking career. Please don't think that any of this was written in anger or frustration. It was not. I am simply putting to words what a lot of us may keep inside.

Having been a coordinator, I know all too well that you have been most diplomatic in your comments about tardiness and postage... Could you let us know when the prints are sent out so that we can have a 'ballpark' figure for the arrival time?

Sorry, I forgot to add this to the email. The 29a Salon prints should be there any day now, there was a postal holiday yesterday. (Something about some guy discovering some place, I don't know)
They were all sent priority with delivery confirmation.
