I wonder if you're thinking of Arthur Wesley Dow? I don't know that
much about him, but he made a lot of Japanese-influenced woodblock
prints and I think he was based in New England for much of his career.

"Well.. I'll go to the front of our stairs**".... as the printmaker who uploaded his acrylic relief prints last week causing some interesting comments.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/h.french1/odin.htm
I have been using acrylic sheets for 30 years plus in all manner of ways, but NEVER thought of inking up intaglio and rolling another colour relief at the same time : now, of course, I can even cut an intaglio line on my woodblocks and ink up and roll out relief at the same time!
Baren is some forum : Thanks to all,

Ellen, Harry and all,
"top rolling" or whatever you want to call it, sounds very interesting!

would this work printed with my usual hand proof press or would it work better with the hand baren? ie to pull up the intaglio ink?

love your northern English phrase, Harry!
as you say (paraphrased): "Baren is some fun !!!"

For the person trying to track down B.J. Norfeld's prints.:
The gallery referred to, Mary Ryan in Manhattan, is no longer there. I
passed by today. The address is listed as 24 West 57 St. (212) 397-0766. But
you know these galleries come and go.

I remember the day in 1983 when I visited there very well because I then
went into the bookstore next to the gallery. The bookstore was empty and as I
was browsing I noticed an old gentleman sitting there and signing books. It
was I.B. Singer. Remembering that he had just won a Nobel prize and that he
was known to be very witty I involved him in a conversation. He was witty! He
signed a book I selected for my daughter and he said if your Lisa Lyons
doesn't like it, give it to another Lisa Lyons. She liked it.

Artists are lucky creatures.
