Bareners all!

Last week with Richard Steiner was fantastic! I always learn so
much, but to put my finger on what it was is not always so easy. One
absorbs as one goes along and when Richard asked me what I had
learned that I didn't know before I was stymied. Except for the terry
cloth and chip-clip trick I am at a loss. However, I did practice my
carving and did half of a new line block with Richard's system of
pushing the knife away from you and guiding the knife with your left
hand (if you're right handed), but I haven't learned to do this left
handed, yet. The half that I carved using the Steiner Method™ has
the much finer more fluid line. Rats - that takes me longer, but
with practice I'm confident I will carve like a streak of
lightening. Always the optimist!

Dear Dave,

I will send you a copy via "Snail Mail".

Knowing Publishers a little ....the last Somerset Studio article I
wrote for them took them three years to print and some Waterfall Cards
I sent took four years to see the "light of day" and they were
published not in that magazine but one found its way to their "sister"
magazine that didn't even come to Australia at that time! So who knows
what happens to some of these things we diligently do!

Jan
