I really liked your woodcuts and scanning through your website Ruth.

There is nothing more meditative than handcolouring as an adult.... I
think it is reminiscence of our childhood days.... well, as an Art
Therapist that is my deep seated theory anyway!!

I still like your multi coloured prints best though. They were very
popular when I had my hanga Baren print exchanges on display at both of
my woodblock teaching workshops this year. I have been asked to do
another one early next year for another country based group of
printmakers in Western Australia, so woodblock printing is alive and
well in Western Australia.

I didn't sell any of my 10 hanga prints I had on display at our 14
printmakers' exhibition in Fremantle WAust for our Universal Abundance
Exhibition a couple of weeks ago although one visitor did ask if I had
a website apparently. Another unsold printmaker said this venue was
not the right place for us or the people knowledge of what is involved
(she had good lithographs). So will have to educate a few more Western
Australians before my next exhibition!!

Well done, Ruth,

Very interesting photos, April.

I was extremely interested in the number of printing tools that Kari
had in his cupboard (No 117) !! Wow!!

I have five brushes!! But somehow even teaching a class of six we have
managed with some substitute type brushes which has worked out well
keeping the woodblock sizes close to postcard size. I also take my
bigger cut blocks so they can experience printing with broad flat areas
and bakashis.

Oh I wish!! Just another four would be wonderful. I am looking
forward to my nephew's wedding in Japan hopefully about
August-September next year..... but hope to win the lotto before then
