I'm going to talk to Mr. Cui at the store to see if i can help anybody who
wants to order a chop design one via the Internet with Mr. Cui. The service
is not online yet unfortunately.
I am sure he would love it and seriously has a soft spot for woodblock
printing. Let me know what you think. I know the museum takes a big chunk
of the carving fee (think 15 dollar carving fee, Mr. Cui receives 7
dollars). I'd like to see if we can circumvent the fee via the museum and
just work with him directly. (he has a lot of his own stones at home or I
could buy them from the museum).

If this is something a bunch of people like. I can scan some of his designs
and send them out to you all so you have an idea of his capability!

Let me know,
Imin

How about TRAVEL or better still VOYAGES which can also be
interpreted in many ways?

Imin...

I would be very interested but I wouldn't want to get Mr. Cui in trouble with the museum. Please put me on your 'definite want one' list. And please do scan some of his designs.

Just as a humorous note, my family nickname is, of course, 'Di' as in Princess Di (however I'm much older). I wonder how "die cutter" would look in a Chinese chop. Certainly it would be unique... LOL and not nearly as lovely and poetic as Benny's translation...

Cairn update:
All is ready to proof and print, had some troublesome little blocks that
seemed to have shrunk down in their travels.
The project will be printed starting next week; should take me a week or two
to get all the printing done and I will proceed to mailing in April. I have
received some private emails about it and apologize for not answering them
individually, I just don't have the time to update 79 people one at a time.
Thanks everyone for their patience and soon you will be admiring the
collective efforts of 79 Baren members!

EXCHANGE #37 THEMES SO FAR:

1. FOOLS (harlequins and jokers...oh my)
2. Peace/human rights, maybe HUMANITY as a collective name
3. VOYAGES
4. Animal/human relationships, let's say COMPANIONS?

Keep the votes coming!

Hello all,

I would be very interested in acquiring a chop from Mr. Cui. Benny's
discription of how his name turned out is wonderful. I hope Mr. Cui
will be inspired to work with us as a group.

Still wrestling with x36 printing. It's slow but will be done before
the dead-line, hopefully! I was so in the zone the other day with
carving and listening to a story on tape that I got a blister and did
not even realize it until later on. Such a great feeling -- the being
in the 'zone', not the blister part.

Printing and Carving Happily looking forward to the next 'zone' --
