The Fruit Alphabet Exchange is also having sign-ups... Prints are not due until
January 2009 - for those of you who need a lot of time... There are only 16 more letter
available, so pick yours today :)http://www.fouroceanspress.com/exchange_alphabet.html

A new type of exchange has just been started... It's not exactly what the Baren is all
about, however, as artists I'm sure there are a few of you who also might be really
good at photography... Four Oceans Press is taking sign-ups for there first Fine Arts
Photography Exchange with the theme of "movement". If you are a great photographer
or know someone who is, it would be wonderful if you would pass on the information
for this Exchange. http://www.fouroceanspress.com/exchange_photo.html

Take a Look, Read, Consider and then Sign up... http://www.fouroceanspress.com/index.html

If you can not get involved this time, check the website regularly for the next
exchange and other projects. As always, Thank you to all the Artists on the Baren who
have been a part of the Four Oceans Press Exchanges or other Exchanges here on
Baren that I have been a part of - you all do such great work :)

Thanks & Smiles,
Heather

Thanks for asking this question, Daniel. I've really enjoyed hearing
people's stories about how they got involved with printmaking and
what they think about art school. I never went to art school myself.
The biggest problem that presented was that it took me a long time to
feel legitimate in my chosen field of illustration. Only after almost
15 years in the field did I begin to feel comfortable calling myself
an artist. At this point I wouldn't go back to school unless it were
required for a particular job I wanted, but it does take a great deal
of discipline to self-teach. Sometimes I take short classes or
workshops for a boost.

Best to all,
Annie
