Dear Maria and Gayle:

Thank you for you request and useful information. I am sorry to cause confusion.
I thought the note did not apply to me since “Prints for Peace” is not an exchange but a Call for Art. My mistake.

This is a Call for Art outside of Barenforum.
Please see the call for art “Prints for Peace” Monterrey México at:

Call for Prints for Peace México August 2008. Prospectus at:

I'm sorry for posting the 'prints for peace' again - I must have missed the first posting...
I had a friend e-mail me privately and asked me to spread the word... I thought it was an
exciting show opportunity for print-makers so of course I thought of the Baren Forum...

I wish you all well on your current printing adventure :)

Smiles,
Heather

Maria,

I'm sorry for any confusion my postings may have caused or any extra e-mails it has
caused you to have written explaining things... I've added "This is an exchange outside of
Barenforum" to my draft e-mail. Hopefully there wont be any confusion in the future :)

Thank you to you and all the Bareners who support other print-makers and their 'outside' exchanges :)

I wish everyone a very productive printing week!!!

Smiles,
Heather

Heather and Guadalupe and anyone else who loves printmaking, not a problem!
We at Baren have always welcomed and always will welcome exchanging prints
outside of Baren and encourage groups to tap into the Baren talent and
membership to promote and encourage printmaking in all of its forms. The
more the merrier.

Thanks for your group, your attitude and everything you do.

Regards,
Maria

The baren blog has been feeling quite neglected lately so I added a video
showing traditional moku-hanga printing....this from Kyoto where the lady
printer (Yuko Harada) is a shokunin (artisan) at the Doshisha
University......and she is also LEFTY ! Check out how her printing setup
may differ from that of a righty....(for example brush and baren are on
her left side....)

Check Yuko Harada's link at:
http://bs.doshisha.ac.jp/kakushin/shokunin_e/int/int_harada.html

thanks.......Julio
ps. there are also links to some interesting videos on fan making and
other traditional Japanese crafts

Maria, thank you for the link to the WorkSharp devices for
sharpening. I've looked at the Tormek system on the Rockler site but,
like you, the $500 price tag choked me up, so I'm glad to hear your
"review" of this more affordable machine. I have the same little
Matsumura-san kit of stones in tupperware and that's all I've got
(evidence that I'm still a newbie). I feel encouraged to try a motor!
