If you have a Mac and you get the HTML version of the list you can not
reply privately. There is no email address in the header. I love my
new mac and it seems there are quite a few Baren members with the
Mac. The Safari web browser that came with my mac does not work with
the program for replying to messages in the HTML version. Many of my
Mac friends have downloaded firefox, I wonder does that work?

Maria, I would like to add all the Kudos written by the other
Bareners. I would also like to know about the elixir or is it the
food You eat that gives you all that energy. Whatever it is I
sure would like some, Fondly Ruth

Hi All,
I just posted pictures of my woodblock progress for exchange #37. For some reason blogspot wouldn't let me put words up. I did everything just like I had before but the words disappear each time I publish it. I must be under some sort of technological curse. Anyhow, here's what I would have said:

Since time is running out and the deadline looms, I thought if I posted my progress it would give me added motivation.

The keyblock, which is the first image took the longest to carve. The theme of the exchange is "journeys" and my idea was for the road to disappear over the rise and for a vapor trail to seem to be the continuation of the highway.    The plan is to have three other color blocks--green, sky blue, and a violet gray.   I'm hoping I can succeed with a bokashi effect on the sky--making a smooth gradation from light blue to dark blue. Not that I've succeeded in the past--I'm just thinking positively...

The second image is the beginning of the sky block with the computer printout of the keyblock pasted on it. I'm carving through the paper. After that is an image of the semi-completed sky block. I'm trying to decide whether to remove the vapor trail on the keyblock so that it will just be white against blue. Maybe I'll decide after making a test print.

The last block is the green block which is pretty straightforward. I'm amazed at how exhausting the carving is but it feels good to have this much progress made. Tomorrow I'll carve the road/cloud shadow block and then I can see how it looks printed.  I'm hoping for a miracle--that it will come out without much need for corrections. I've done little paintings of scenes like this of roads twisting this way and that and for some reason it's very pleasing to me.
