Marilynn and others who are having trouble with Safari and their Macs
for responding to Baren, try Firefox. Marilynn, I apologize -- in a
private email to you I called it Foxfire. Anyway Firefox was
recommended to me by Dave Bull, and I have been using it with good
results. Once in a great while something won't download from Firefox
(not any Baren stuff, though), and I still need my Safari, so I keep
it in the dock for those times. I hope this helps some of you.

Thanks for the progress report Lynn,

EVERYONE on the list is confirmed. I sent an email welcoming everyone to the
exchange looooong ago.

Part of being in an exchange is "keeping up" with the communications from
the coordinator. I'm not chastising anyone, just a friendly reminder that it
is the responsibility of every exchange participant to...er, participate!

You're in there ... If you mess around with posting dates - perhaps
posting drafts first, then 'open' them later, you'll find the posts
won't get picked up properly ... due to confusion with the date. Might
this be the problem?

Those links in the HTML Digest: [Reply: To Baren | Privately] ... are
coming to the end of their useful 'service life'. It's not
specifically a Mac/Win issue though. When I first programmed that
system, life on the internet was much easier; these days, our systems
need to be protected against 'bad guys' attempting to hijack their way
into control of our computers. Because of this, many
/systems/browsers/email programs now defend against scripts or links
that attempt to 'jump around' on your computer (for example, blocking
links in an email message that contain an attached program that might
do something malicious).

So the simple system that I programmed to help you jump automatically
to a new email message either replying to the group, or replying to the
person, no longer works on many machines. It still works fine on my own
system actually, but I'm running a seven-year old OS. I assume that
once I upgrade to something newer, they will break.

And I'm sorry, but getting into that kind of 'arms race', trying to
keep ahead of the changes, would involve more time that this small
convenience is worth. So next time I'm updating the Mr. Digester
software, I guess I'll pull those links out of there ...

Hitting your email 'Reply:' button should still bring up a new email
directed to the group itself of course. But if you want to write to the
person directly, you'll have to look around in the emails for their
address manually.
