Tom, thanks for tempting me with another path to explore -- I'm
really enjoying hearing all this info about titanium white. Your
enthusiasm is contagious, and I can't wait to try it.

Eva, I always enjoy your web site and it was great to go back and
visit it again after Carol Lyons pointed us in your direction.

Tibi, how exciting to hear that you'll be in Brazil for 9 months! You
asked for some advice about packing a traveling moku hanga kit. Your
list sounded pretty complete to me. As for using a 9mm Aisuki to make
kento marks, for me it wouldn't be ideal, but I think you could get
by with it. A Japanese kento nomi isn't cheap, but maybe a cheaper
straight chisel from a hardware store would do - something a little
larger than 9mm. Western style brushes would be fine for delivering
pigment to the block, but I would definitely invest in a maru bake.
I've used the sosaku brush from Baren Mall and I like it. It sheds a
little in the beginning, but then it's fine. If you can't afford a
hanga bake too, a cheap alternative I've used is a stencil brush:
http://www.dickblick.com/zz056/91/
But of course a hanga bake is better, since it's made for the task.
Keep in touch!

Annie

P.S. - Dave Bull just posted his newest "My Solitudes" print; don't
miss it!

Exchange# 37 and 37a
http://www.barenforum.org/exchange/exchange_37/exchange_37.html

Prints arriving daily and I have now heard from everyone except
Kris Wiltse, who is now dropped from Exchange 37.

Therefore! I need EITHER
Someone in Exchange 37a who has not yet sent their prints AND has 62 prints
handy (as in done, dry, ready to travel) to raise their hand and send the
extra prints. This will make you a participant in both Exchange 37 and 37a
and you will receive two sets back.

OR Someone lurking in the background who did not sign up for the exchange
initially but secretly pulled a set of prints that would meet the criteria,
to contact me and send 31 prints.

Any takers?
If I don’t hear from anyone, Exchange 37 will be short one print. No big
deal.

Most of you happy tortoises have emailed me (thank you!), some are on the
way, some are getting ready to mail, like, yesterday. Incidentally, the last
set of prints to get here will be awarded the Official Tortoise Costume,
which they will have to wear for a month. Hey, I don't care if you have to
go to work like that, have your manager talk to me about your new uniform.
SERIOUSLY I will collate these no later than August 23 and mail by August
25. Any prints not here by then will be very sad and lonely prints.
On notice:

Claudia Coonen (finished/mailing)
Lester Dore (finishing)
Georga Garside
David Harrison (finished/mailing)
LD Lawrence
Julio Rodriguez
Mariana Bartolomeo BrooksMuller
Oscar Bearinger
Sharen Linder
Barbara Patera
Bette Wappner (finished/mailing)
Cyndy Wilson (finishing)
Jean Womack

Everyone else off the hook! Phew...

--------------

Exchange #38
http://www.barenforum.org/exchange/exchange_38/exchange_38.html

Your happy coordinator Benny Alba is fully in charge.
Don't forget to contact her (us) using the email
coordinator38@barenforum.org if any problems/questions arise or just to give
progress updates, talk about the weather, the olympics...

Everyone should be thinking about getting in the studio and starting this
exchange, and that includes ME! (Exits room and runs to the studio).

Sharen Linder is not in the Exchange 37 "tortoise club"; her double set of
prints arrived a while back.

Apologies!

How about having an all reduction method for a future exchange?\

Worried.... what gave you the idea I was worried.????

Curious yes... and you answered my query. Thanks,

For 50 years I have been doing watercolours.....
You can find a book.... probably in your local library on the subject
of “Watercolor and How”
by Graham Scholes . There are several other books out there, where I
have been featured.
The reason for bringing this to your attention is that never.... never
did it use white pigement
in any watercolour paintings... I took it on that I would not
succumb to this for any paintings,
but make use of the white of the paper. I fun challenge that fit
with my nature.

As far as looking at the digital images on the site you posted Tom....
not really possible
to appreciate the value of titanium on 72dpi images on some clunker
computer monitors. ...
I have seen similar sort of things at the Art Gallery of Greater
Victoria and although interesting,
I did not get excited about them.

Regards
Graham

PS.... It might be an idea for us not to quote a web site but define
the url for personal visit and observation.
Sure save a lot of writing and keep the forum to a concise and fast
read.

Well, I have to vote for wine....I like it but it doesn't like me
And I admit to buying it by the label ....the nicer the label the more likely I am to buy the bottle.

I loved the blog with the little kids stomping the grapes...but does it have a good label? I think it did....

My second choice is scotch ...
