Would you like to have a press that will print just about anything except large etchings? I recently conducted a workshop for 6
women on how to build a bottle jack press. In preparation, I redesigned
my little press to make it much stronger, and actually a bit easier to
construct. They were all quite delighted with their presses.

Anyone can build one of these presses. You only need basic hand tools, like a saw, hammer, and screw driver. You can buy all of the materials required at you local hardware and building supply stores. If you buy everything new, the cost will be about $100. If you are good at scrounging, the cost will be much less.

At
last I have finished a very detailed set of instructions on how to
build my improved design. I have included with the instructions on
building the press some instructions for a number of registration
techniques. Anyone can easily build my press using only hand tools. I
have not yet put the file up on MY website, but I have posted it to the
SSNW web site.

If you would like a copy of the plans but do not have access to the SSNW site, just send me an email off list and I will be happy to send you the pdf file, complete with many, many color photos (Oh WOW!!!).

Cheers ...... Charles

Subject: Recent Work: "Freshly Picked"
Posted by: Andy English

I started my working year with a large illustrating job. This was to engrave nineteen illustrations for "Freshly Picked" by Jojo Tulloh. Many of the images were set in allotment gardens and so this was pleasant and sympathetic work for me

Here are the nineteen blocks. I will try to print a group of them together on the larger Albion to make an image the size of a small poster, possibly with some wood type text.

Here are some proofs printed from the blocks:

Finally have my hands on a block again. Haven't been working on anything since Dec. That drat ulcer -- or rather the reglan I was taking for the ulcer. It messed with my other meds. But things seem to be back to normal -- or what passes for normal. ;-j And I'm back to working again.
