Hello,
welcome to baren your work is very good I like it, there is not much
difference in lino and wood , you similarly took the prints of wood also.so
you can do better in wood.
ok bye.........

Welcome Georgina!

I work in wood and lino, not that much of a difference, other than
preparation (wood takes longer), printing (many more things you can
accomplish with wood, very little with lino) and carving (your
preference, although arguments arise, I think lino cuts a thinner and
more stable thin line).
Otherwise, not too much difference once you get the hang of it.

Hi

Is this the right place to ask for technical advice, if not I am sorry, please tell me where to post the question.

thank you everyone who looked at my blog, I was really excited about it. It is really very nice to interact with prinmakers
from all over the world from the comfort of my own home!

I have found a supplier of good timbers, and he sells western type tools. There is also a place in Brisbane
called carbo-tek and they sell cheap japanese tools, so I might buy them to start with.

My question is about the inks. I have looked on Baren Mall and there is powder pigments. Is there a good quick
guide to using these for absolute beginners and I am guessing that I have to buy these over the net as I have not seen
anything like them in my travels around Brisbane art supply shops - except pigments for use in egg tempera?

Anyhow sooner or later I will have to purchase so I plan to start off properly. I am also guessing that I should never print
with oil based ink if I want to print with japanese pigments later.

What about proofing with a waterbased block ink? I have a 1lb jar of that sitting on my bench right now....Will this stain
the wood and leak out forever ruining any lighter colours?

If I order some pigments then I may as well order some paper - any suggestions? I have a baren, but not one of those very expensive ones.

thank you
