When I went to the link suggested I got a "page missing", this page no
longer exists message. However, the Hirschl and Adler Galleries
website is very nice, with a lot of woodcut artists' work displayed.
The page for the Aurthur Wesley Dow exhibit they had last year has 55
images you can view. There are a number of woodcuts printed in
different color schemes, which is pretty interesting. I will have to
go back when time permits to look at the other woodcuts on the site.

re. paper for printing hanga prints --

Barbara Mason -- are you going to make a list of the information about
papers people sent in? I've saved all the digests with remarks on the
subject, but won't go back and write it all down, if it's your plan to
do any more with the information...

What is the best paper (reasonable priced) if I want to end up with
flat hanga prints?

The reason for Baren's existence is to promote woodblock/relief
printmaking and facilitate the interchange of ideas & images among
printmakers. With that in mind we are announcing a new feature at Baren:
BarenSocial.

It is a social-network type place for bareners to exchange information but
also can be used as a repository for Baren related content such as photos,
videos, webpages, etc.

Think of BarenSocial as your own piece of Baren. A virtual place safely
within the Baren community where you can upload images, link your videos,
create your own web presence (web pages, blogs, discussion groups) and
share your information with others. This is all self-contained within
Baren's server and we hope be a complement to the forum email-discussion
group, the Baren website and the "Friends of Baren Facebook Group".

Our David Harrison did the hardwork of site install and site setup back
in June. During July we have been beta-testing many of the add-on features
available (Event_Calendar, Video_Playlist, Albums/Gallery, etc.). You
will see a number of Baren members already onboard and quite a bit of
testing chatter among the group. Some of the features are quite 'basic'
compared to more advanced commercial sites but based on our limited
resources and availability of our volunteer pool this is a good place to
start. It is and will continue to be a "work-in-progress" as we hope to
develop additional features with your help and contributions.

Here is the link: http://www.barenforum.org/barensocial/

There is a very comprehensive 'Help' & 'FAQs' page under construction that
will soon be available...in the mean time check it out, register as a user
and play around a bit. We have added some basic content but are REALLY
counting on you to develop the site, add content and make this happen.

How to get started:

- Visit link: http://www.barenforum.org/barensocial/
- Register to barensocial as new user (valid email id required)
- Validate registration once you receive email
- After login in you will see a Welcome page (one time only), hit the 'GO'
button at the bottom of the page to continue.....
- Go build your Main page and Profile info by clicking on the little grey
figure icon on the black topbar menu
- Use the Edit Page and Edit Profile links to update your information
(there is a 'Save' button on most pages)
- Enter as much or as little info as you desire, go to Edit Profile Icon
to upload an image for your profile avatar (you can revisit these pages as
often as you like !)
- You can custom build your Main page by dragging widgets from the right
side menu unto your page columns and override the default look
- Use the Tool menu on the topbar to navigate around the site....checkout
the Event_Calendar, Polls, Photos, the Video_Playlist, etc...
- Go back again if you like and change your main page to display any
features you would like to add
- A little green icon next to the profile avatar means user is online, a
yellow one means new user
- When adding any new content you will usually have an option to select
user access (Public, Logged-on users, Friends or Private)
- For now you have to add other users as friends although we are
considering an option at signup to make new users friends with everyone
already onboard...
- Most of the features have RSS feeds so our hope is to have Barensocial
and the forum discussion list be in tune with each other
- Play around and Have fun !

Any questions or problems registering, navigating around Barensocial or
adding new content.....please let us know. Annie Bissett has offered to
help introduce this feature to new users so feel free to contact her
directly if you need help or get stuck. You can send us feedback off-list
if you desire.

thanks in advance.....Julio

Does this mean we can attach items, which has not been allowed before?
