Hi printmakers,
I posted this on facebook but thought i would post it here too. this is my low tech no computer method transferring images onto blocks.
I transfer my keyblock image onto the woodblock using carbon paper then i make corrections and any additions right on block. I usually don't bother reversing the image unless there is writing in it but i do check it in the mirror just to make sure it looks okay. next i carve the keyblock and kento. I "print" my keyblock including kento with compressed charcoal as my "ink" (blow off excess) onto newsprint (taped to block) using a wooden spoon or baren. then i transfer charcoal image onto my next block by rubbing the back of the paper (taped to block) with spoon or pencil. its pretty easy to see the lines through the paper so you can just do the image area. I have used this method for my last five prints each one having four or five blocks and haven't had any registration problems. tracing paper would be even easier then newsprint but i am cheap. i mean frugal.
