Good morning printmakers....

I was buzzing around the internet looking for visual images of sounds...long story..... and I stumbled across this site.

It is an "astronomy page of the day" with some of the most incredible imagery I have ever seen...it goes back years. This one is the one yesterday and you can see why it pulled me in.

Click on calendar at the bottom of the page and then go back a few years and hit a month...the images come up in thumbnails so you can pick one...I spent a couple of hours looking at these and was so impressed

I actually emailed the guy who set it up and he emailed back thanking me for appreciating it so much. Have fun but do this when you have a bit of time. I sure took a lot of mine.
My best
Barbara

Greetings Bareners,

Whilst there seems to be a breathing space in the forum I'll take the
opportunity to inform you of my latest experimental wood print.

The original Staffordshire dragon is somewhat obscure in definition and it
is made of gold. I replicated it by using gold leaf on the final reduction
print. I brushed gilt paste over the block and printed it. After waiting
for twenty minutes for the paste to become tacky I burnished a gold leaf
page over it.

The latest work page also includes rough landscape colour studies for future
work.

I would like to apologize to the other particpants in this exchange. While I had mine carved out for some time I put off printing thinking I had loads of time. I got it almost done and got a call that my mother has pancreatic cancer and only weeks to live. She lives 5 hours away and I have been with her, for the most part, for the past 3 weeks. I was finally able to come home for a few days and get some things done, including finish this print. My apology is because this is most definetly not my best work. But it is finished and will be sent out as soon as it is dry - probably Thursday.

My name is Trudi Smith. I'm a painter living and working in Saratoga
Springs, NY. I have just started making (learning to make) relief
prints. It is something I have wanted to do for years and I love it.
I'm very excited to discover this site and all of the inspiring work
and helpful information on it!

Hi Bareners,

I'm clueless about presses, but an illustrator friend of mine is
looking at a Dickerson Combination Press and is inspecting it later
this week. Can anyone guide him around what to look for, reasonable
price, etc.? If so, please contact me directly and I'll put him in
touch with you.

Thanks so much,

Annie
