That was a truly sensitive and most lovely article you wrote about this
fine lady, Dave.
I am happy you were able to meet her.

Thank you, so much.

Mark

There is a short piece about her in my newsletter here:
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~xs3d-bull/hyaku-nin-issho/1998/autumn/33.html#anchor_visit

She was 97.

I cannot add anything to what I said in that piece ...

So sorry to hear about Iwano's mother passing away at 97, that's a great
story David posted.. His father (also named Iwano) was also a "National
Treasure" award recipient back in the 1970's. The family business has been
passed from father to son for several generations now.

I posted some short video clips of my printing setup at home, it's crude
video with not much editing or rehearsing but I had fun doing it. I think
next time I'll shoot the video and add a rehearsed audio track later, hard
for me to print and talk at the same time !

Please take a look and let me know if you have any questions or if you
see areas I can improve on.

watched the videos on printing. I am a newcomer and feel as if I will always be, so much I don't know or understand. Why paste with the ink and is it a vegetable paste/ thanks, Syd

Dave,
Thank you for sharing your experiences and story of Mrs. Iwano. It
was very moving and as I touch your prints made on the paper she
helped to create I will always remember her deep beauty.
Bette.

should you be looking for a gift for the kids in your life, i have just opened up an etsy shop, with my prints on kids T-shirts!

 http://www.etsy.com/shop/bradleyralphrobinson

if you like what you see, or know someone who might, please feel free to pass this link along. etsy really works by word of mouth.

why buy the kids you love stuff made in china from a big monolithic store when you can support a local artist and get them something that they'll look oh-so-cool in?

hope you are all well!

Subject: Free Art Giveaway!!
Posted by: Amie Roman

Well, 'tis the season, after all, for generosity and thoughtfulness. Thanks to Jeanette's recent giveaway on her blog, which I just won (!), I have been inspired to give something back. I really appreciate all of the people who take time out of their day to read my blog and to visit my website and Etsy shop, and I'd like to demonstrate that appreciation in a concrete manner.

So, until December 15, 2009, please pick one of the following prints as a favourite, post a comment indicating your favourite and a link to your Etsy shop, website, blog, Twitter or Facebook page (or whatever!) so I can get a hold of you if you win, and I'll randomly select a winner from the list to receive their favourite. These are all original block prints, hand-pulled by myself.
