Gayle, I appreciate your thoughts! I'm starting a new print right now of a scene of some standing stones we visited in southern Scotland. I'm hoping for a sort of Turkey Knob type image with an active sky. I'm almost finished getting the guide drawing down on the block using water-based markers. Recently on Baren folks were talking about alternatives to polyurethane (which is what I use), for sealing blocks. I've noticed that polyurethane doesn't soak in and bond with the wood as much as I would like it to.

Thanx!

Michael

Subject: Carving Color Three
Posted by: Ellen Shipley

I started carving for the third and last color.  I didn't get very far as I've got a cold and my brain is muzzy.  I didn't trust my attention.  It isn't called a suicide block for nothing.

So I switched gears and worked on a weaving project.  That took a lot less brain.  ;- j  At least it's more forgiving.  Check out http://wefttomyowndevices.blogspot.com/ if you're curious.
