Bench hooks may be a no-brainer but we have these nifty red, plastic holders that fit in a corner - left or right handed that the artist holds with one hand and cuts with the other. We may have lino scraps - I'll check and if anyone is interested, I could send them.

I agree with Sharri,(10 years old for wood) I use EZ cut for the youngsters. They get the same idea of a relief print, if they are inspired by the process, they can eventually carve wood when they are more ready for that. I love the idea of found wood for printing on, interesting textures are good too for the kiddos -- netting, bubblewrap, foil, nubby fabrics (they can have a coating of acrylic gloss painted on them and adhered to a matboard) -- these kind of things really get the imaginations rolling. Have a great class!!

Dear all,

Wow! Thanks so much to everyone who responded to my request for tips on
woodcut printing with kids - a fantastic response and I feel really
enthused now to actually get messy :-) I've tried to reply individually
to everyone who responded to my original message to thank you - in some
cases my mail has been returned, so if you haven't heard from me, please
take this message as a much appreciated thank you from me.
