Thanks Dave for letting us know you are okay. I hope all your friends
and colleagues are okay as well. Tsunami warnings here on the pacific
coast were a bit scary as well. But nothing like what Japan
experienced. Maybe we could come and have a summit to help clean up?

La Green. Sorry to say that because I am in the Baja I won't be trying
to ship work to San Antonio for the summit show. Sad to miss that
part, but excited to see old Baren friends and make new ones. Thanks
for the continuing updates.

I'd heard that Dean Clark, our friend at Graphic Chemical and
Ink, had had open heart surgery. Susan has just written that he
is now at home. He had been hospitalized for ten days and the
recovery will be an long one, but he is doing well. He won't be
at SGC in St. Louis, but Susan will be there to say hello,
though! graphicchemical.com

Dave,

I'm so glad you were not in the midst of the tsunami turmoil. I have a
friend who lives in Shiogama who I'm worried about because I have heard no
news about how the city is faring. Do you know anything further? I would
greatly appreciate knowing something.

Thanx and good luck,

Ellen

That area is still lacking power, so it's not a concern that they
haven't been in contact. I can't find any publicly accessible lists of
affected people yet, so can't tell you much more at this point. That
particular area was indeed hit badly, although somewhat protected by
the islands at the front of Matsushima Bay. If they lived on the
waterfront, you have reason to be worried; if they lived up somewhere
higher, they're probably OK ...

(Should have answered together ... sorry)

Dave is almost certainly untouched by this - he lives a very long way
from all the affected areas: earthquake, tsunami, reactor problems ...

But we _do_ have a member right up there - George Jarvis. As far as I
can tell at this point, his area too is affected by the blackouts, so
he may simply be out of contact. He's not on the coast, so I doubt
that he would have been affected by any of the tsunami, but he would
certainly have been shaken around by the quake.

Hopefully, he'll check in at some point ...

I am so glad you and David Stones are not touched by the earthquake.
I hope George Jarvis is OK. ( He was a participant in the small Lefties
Can Carve exchange)

George touched base via ssnw early this morning. He reported
power out and only cell phone service, but he and his family are
alright.

Posted by: Alynn Guerra

I went back to CMU last week to talk about my prints and to pick up my artwork, and I have to admit that was more excited to pick up the notes that were exchanged for "seed packets" than my own artwork. It has been my intention to create installations with the only purpose to inspire and get inspired. I can't speak much about the first part, but I'm always inspired by people's stories, notes,
