Japonisme is a blog that features Japanese themed art. Lately it's been featuring earthquake and tsunami themed works.

Send Message: To this poster

Good Morning all
I have 16 people so far in the Benefit Portfolio so that is very good.

I got an email from a barener who said she would feel better about it if the
money was going to help the Tsunami victims...

That is the intent so if I gave the impression of anything else I am sure sorry.
We will give any funds raised to Mercy Corps and their on the ground partner in
Japan called Peace Winds. http://www.mercycorps.org/japanearthquake

Mercy Corps did not want to market the prints but think I can make that happen.
I am looking to the Japanese Gardens here in Portland to market the portfolios
for us and I think that will be a good fit. Since I wrote to them on the
weekend, I have no answer yet, but if this does not work out, I will find
another partner for us.

I hope to get 30 people and will put the list up soon, if you emailed to Baren
or to me personally, I probably have you down for the donation.
I am doing a piece after Hiroshige, nothing like going to the true master for
inspiration. It is my first borrowed image and we will see how well I can do...a
huge undertaking for me even if it is only 4 colors. Carving is not my best
skill and there are tiny feathers involved. I want it to be moku hanga, so a
little more work than western printing which I am really good at. Everyone
should stretch themselves once in awhile and it is for such a worthy cause!
Cut and Print.....
My best to all
