I too would like to participate in the benefit prints for Japan. Somehow I am having difficulty with replying to an individual post. I am a printmaker from McKinney Texas who loves to work with relief. I hope there is still room.PeaceLynne HubnerLynnehubnerprints.com

Hi Barbara,

If there's still space, I'd like to participate in this project as well.

Thanks,

Hello David and fellow Bareners,

A printmaking friend here in Perth has just sent me this:

> Keiko Schmeisser informed us about this so I looked it up and am
> passing it onto you. International Mokuhanga Conference Kyoto & Awaji.

David Steiner and April Vollmer are listed as demonstrators and
teachers ........... oh I do wish I could go ......... maybe. I'd Love
to be there.
What a wonderful experience and closer to home than Canada/ USA.

I do not know the two Australians listed..... Susan Rushforth (no
specific place listed) and Jacqueline Gribbin in Darwin in the Northern
Territory.

Are there many members of Baren going to Kyoto & Awaji for this
conference in June?

Regards to all,
Jan

Good Morning Baren

The relief print project has taken on a real life of its own....and I can see I
am going to need some help.
We are at 55 people and probably there will be more in the next month.
Julio is putting up the info page on Baren and later today it will be "live"

I envision us doing at least two portfolios of 20 to 30 prints and the work
being assembled by size. I have had a few people ask for a smaller size and I
hate to turn anyone away that wants to help.

There has been a lot of interest in exhibiting this work. If you can find a
venue near you, let me know and I will send you all 54+ prints for exhibition
and sale.
This means helping with the publicity and marketing to raise funds in your area
and selling the portfolio. A challenge but easily doable. If you find a sponsor
you can donate it to a museum or public collection. This will raise the money we
want and also give back to the artists with a new collection on their resume.

When I did the signups I didn't realize this would inspire so many to
contribute. I neglected to ask for your city, state and country. So lets fix
that
Send it to me off baren at barbaramason45@yahoo.com and I will update the spread
sheet. We don't need 55 posts with this info on the list.

If you want to help, l will be thrilled. lets do some brainstorming here and
figure out a plan to make even more money for the relief.

I watched a documentary on our Public Broadcasting channel that put events and
destruction in a timeline and it was pretty sobering. The news was all over the
place origianly with bits and pieces of info. This documentary really explained
what happened and the momentous size or the tragedy. It will affect the entire
world one way or another. I read in the paper that the pigment manufacturer for
paint colors is shut down so cars will not come in black by summer. How odd is
that?

I have been part of Baren since exchange #2 so that is a long time. I am
constantly amazed at the talent and kindness of the folks on this list. I have
met many of you and had the pleasure of actually being in a few homes, Leslie,
Maria, Sharri, Bridget, Graham, and probably many more I cannot think of right
now. And also met more of you at the two summits. Mike Lyon was kindness and
generosity personified in Kansas City and Sharri opened her home to us in
Vancouver Washington. I love her studio!
I am agonizing over San Antonio since my life seems too busy to go, but we shall
see.

Those of us who have been with the Baren for a long time ebb and flow with
enthusiasm, but to see this outpouring of kindness and excitement for the
relief project makes all of us proud and I hope some of the new folks will get
more involved. The Baren will be what the artists make it.

My very best to you all
Barbara

Have a look at this website. A friend attended me to it. Its's an incredible
body of work generated in such a short timespan

http://cfsl.net/tsunami/?paged=11

It is a similar effort run with Paris as a base

Barbara,
You know that I will help you coordinate the portfolios. We'll talk
about the details at lunch one of these days. Probably when you get
back from AZ.

Cheers ~

obviously I did not mean to send this to the list....old age is here and I need
to go look at all the emails to figure out who else has volunteered. I have a

Sorry to post again today but I can't wait a day to share this Great news!!!!

Courtesy of Daler-Rowney and Dick Blick and thanks to Tina Browder, a Baren
Forum member who works for Dick Blick, we are getting 60 portfolios for FREE for
this project.
They will be 12x16" and you can see them here
http://www.dickblick.com/products/cachet-studio-portfolios/
The manufacturer and the distributor are sharing the donation 50/50

(There is a nice art Center here in Highland Park, IL that I was thinking of
asking about exhibiting the prints. I will also send an email to see if Blick
is interested in purchasing a portfolio or sponsoring an exhibition.) this also
from Tina

The Baren Forum people are beyond wonderful
My best to all
