Hello,

My name is Graham Stephens from Portland, Oregon.

I've been reading this forum for a while and finally signed up for an exchange.

I thought I would introduce myself and express my gratitude for the great information that comes through these emails!

I focus most of my work on Intaglio printmaking, but I also love relief woodcuts as well.

I look forward to participating!

Thanks,

Graham Stephens

Subject: [Baren 43385] kimono print proofs

I managed to pull some quick proofs of my kimono /Japan print. www.rospobio.blogspot.com
They were printed with paper I had at hand..Rives Lightweight and BFK just to test registration and color schemes.

I've another block to cut and some repairs to make on the keyblock.

This is the second time I've worked this large, 10 x 15" and I must say I'm enjoying the format even if my print is far away from what I originally intended.

I'll be printing these on Echizen Kozo, so I'll have to pull a proof on that too soon to make sure that it too will print cleanly and it will look different as I should be able to get less grainy color on good paper.

I just recovered my baren in anticipation of printing next week! New skin, new paper, new print. I can't wait to start printing!

Subject: Sizing update - another setback
Posted by: Dave Bull

In the previous 'episode' of this quest to find good materials for the paper sizing, I talked about some glues that I obtained from overseas. I mentioned that I would use them in some tests, and can now report (on the first glue).

It's going to be 'no go'.

Subject: Inspired by Japan - Sketch on Block
Posted by: Amanda

Here is my rough sketch for the Baren Forum's Inspired by Japan project. Next steps: cut paper, which arrived on Saturday. I'm also hoping to finish a reduction print (1-2 colors left) so I don't have to fiddle with the settings on the press in the middle of the edition. However, "hurry up" and "print" don't belong in the same sentence, so we'll see about that!
