I'd love to sign up for an exchange of tiny prints!

I've taken part in one exchange, and a couple of New Year's card
exchanges. The small sizes are so much easier to work with!
Especially if you're nearsighted. I love being able to see the design
as a whole, which is hard with a larger piece. I'm looking forward to
this!

Did I miss something about the book mark exchange? I participated in the 2001 exchange and enoyed all the book marks I received from people located all over the world. Matter of fact there is one I still use as of today. Is someone organizing another one? Please do!Jerelee from the USA (Maryland)

Hi Everyone,
My name is Dorothy Cochran. I am an artist/printmaker working in all print
techniques for many years. I love the baren and faithfully read the
emails. I recently retired as a NYC not for profit gallery director/curator and
now have more time to work in my studio and do things like the exchanges.

I am VERY interested in participating in the miniature print exchange. I
am currently represented in such an exhibition at the Center for Contemporary
Printmaking in Norwalk, CT. This 8th Biennial of International Miniature
Prints, juried by Judith Brodsky, founder of the Brodsky Center for
Innovative Editions at Rutgers University in NJ, has no theme, but only size
requirements. There were 568 entries from the USA and abroad. It is an astounding
exhibition of the possibilities of the small format. Their website is
www.contemprints.org.

I would love to join you for this next print exchange and would vote for no
theme.

Keep up the good work in your communications.
Cheers,
Dorothy Cochran

Subject: Mystique Series #14 : where the design came from
Posted by: Dave Bull

Now that printing on Mystique #14 is about to begin, I guess it's time to talk about the design for this one. Let's see where it came from ...

Exhibit #1 - a pocketbook on 'Chiyogami' (Japanese traditional printed papers):

Although most of the book is indeed about chiyogami, there are a number of pages inside that show leaves from a Meiji-era pattern book. One - a quite modern design, with the patterns framed in 'tsuba' (sword guard) shaped outlines - caught my eye:

white line woodblock print on Rives BFK
image size:approx. 8X12 inches
paper size 8X12 inches

This is a white line or Provincetown woodcut print. I paint each area of color on the woodblock with watercolor then print the block by hand onto Rives paper. each print is unique. my prints are a bit different from traditional
Provincetown prints because i paint the whole block letting the watercolor dry then when i am ready to print i reconstitute the watercolor with a fine mist from a squirt bottle then print the whole block rather than printing each color one at a time as in traditional white line prints.
