Hi Tiny Bareners,

I suggest a more open criteria for the "tiny prints" exchange.

Miniature societies often set criteria in one of two ways:

1. The addition of height and width of the object.

So the limit is set as "the print can be no larger than 6 inches (15.24 cm)
combined dimensions."
However, this limits the object is being square or rectangular (ie 2
dimensions.)

2. The area of the object.

"The print can be no larger than 34.8 square inches (225 square cm.)"
The beauty of this criteria is that it allows ANY SHAPE for the print,
vertical, horizontal, square, circular, hexagon, etc etc.

This is the criteria I would prefer, to allow for diverse shapes.

The size I would suggest is "no larger than 9 square inches (58 square cm.)"
This would also allow folks to work SMALLER if they so wish. However, I am
happy to go along with whatever the group decides.

I would also like the group to have the criteria in BOTH metric and inches.

Looking forward to tiny !

Best,
Oscar

When we're talking about sizes, are we talking image size or paper size? Oscar, you are talking about image size, I presume, because I can't imagine hexagonal shaped paper. Usually, for exchanges, we have talked about paper size, and we make our image to fit within that size. So if the paper is 2" x 3", the image would be pretty small. So, we have to clarify what we mean when we say 2" x 3", or whatever size we decide. I like 2" x 3" for the image size, but maybe the paper it fits in should be a little larger. But, if the paper is 2" x 3" that will surely be fun, too, and challenging.

Hi Barbara,

I'd vote for the 2 x 3 size and no theme.

Gayle
No, I am talking about object size, therefore I am talking about the paper
size. The image can be any size that fits the paper, if you will.

I am simply for diversity, that is, all kinds of shapes that people can do,
and any size up to an agreed-upon limit, so people are able to make smaller
if they wish.

Oscar

Hi,
A tiny print exchange sounds fun. Maybe we could have a maximum size
and let everyone choose their own dimensions within the limit?

Like the 2 x 3 inch 50 x 75 mm and would like to participate once the
sign-up is open. # 30 exchange was 100 x 100 mm. Barbara I will get the
"Japan inspired" tsunami print in the mail this week. I hope it was in order
that I posted it on my blog prior to sending it. link:

A big Thank You to Bareners who sent me 'input' re my
print(s) on Facebook!

Barbara, I shall be sending them out express post tomorrow
as long as a full Postal trike isn't announced - I think
many of us have agreed that post works best as with UPS or
FEDEX there is more likeliehood of delays at Customs.

Since my prints are 'variable' and not editioned what is the
most acceptable/prevalent way of indicating this?

Shireen - they lie. V gouges are impossible to sharpen. Well, OK,
that is only my experience and opinion, but I was never successful and
finally gave it up as a lost cause and went to the straight knife and
cut a V when I want one. Much easier on the blood pressure, stress
factor, hands, knees, whatever. And, working this way you have the
equivalent of all sizes of V gouges. And, they tell me, after a while
it is almost as fast! (Of course," they" are the same "they" that
will tell you it is possible to sharpen a V gouge.....)

While I'm here: I vote for either a 2 x 3 image or 3 x 3. I do like
the square format, but 4 x 4 seems kind of big. Or "sorta big".

Cheers ~ I am off to work on the Inspired by Japan print some more...

I concur with Oscar and think that the 9 square inches is a good
size for this exchange.

I'm looking forward to celebrating with everyone in this big
little exchange!

2x4 is ok for me I'v just been done a print for the littlest print
exchange that was 3x3". It would be good to go a bit smaller.
