Dear Marilynn. I thought I was the only one waiting for my grandson to grow up so that I can teach him to do art.
He is 16 months now and I have made prints with his little feet and hands to use for the Prints for Peace exhibit.

You can also do a monoprint with oil pastel and acuacolors with wet paper,
I use one of those eraser blocks at the youth center and also have used carrots to do wrapping paper.
My best to you this summer, Guadalupe

Hi Baren youngsters, I became a Great Grandmother last week. Pretty fantastic! I am excited to enjoy a new baby to help me create some new baby images for my art work. When I was younger and teacher of preschool children I loved all the many relief methods for kid printing – as soon as they could handle a knife, potatoes, carrots, sponges, Styrofoam. Enjoy. I'd go for $75 espec since prints won't be matted or framed
and low price should(?) encourage more buyers..

Marilynn,
Lino is usually kind of hard for an 8 yr. old to manage, but EZ cut
is much more appropriate to his age. Or, buy a package of Chinet
dining plates - the ones with the smooth bottom. They are made of
basically the same foam that the craft squares are made of, but a
whole lot cheaper and you have 100 possible plates. He can draw into
them with a pencil and relief print the image. These work better than
meat cartons or other foam-ish materials. It is always fun to go on a
"scavenger" hunt and find things you can print - the kitchen and the
tool room are bonanzas - as is outdoors. Good luck - you will have
lots of fun!
Cheers ~

I use Safety-Kut from Daniel Smith with 6 year olds in my art camp. It
holds a good line and is easy to cut. Keep 2 hands on the cutters.
Haven't had any injuries yet.
