Hi Barbara and thanks SO much for all you work on this!!

Suggestion - the division into portfolios seems arbitrary and a bit
confusing (to non-bareners)... Organize all prints alphabetically (or
nationally - alpha) by last name. Remove reference to 30 print
portfolios and the division into A and B (which makes B group seem
less than A group - which they're not). Retain quantity discount for
10 or more. Add discount for 30 or more. Add price for entire suite.

My 2 cents?

Barbara,

Thank you so much for updating colophons when you are no doubt
incredibly busy! I noticed for our work that you put "Venda artwork from
the northern regions of South Africa" as "Comments from the artist."
Actually it's "Ndebele artwork." Could you please change it to "Ndebele
artwork from the central to north-eastern resigns of South Africa"? I
know it means nothing to you in the States, but Vendas and Ndebeles are
very different people.

Thank you!

Hello Baren Members!
This is to let you know that we are in the final stretch of sign-ups for Exchange 50, "Tiny Little Prints/ Great Big World". We haven't quite reached our goal of 100 participants yet, but are right around 75 as of now. If you've been waiting around, trying to decide whether to get on board this project, now is the time to jump in!
Who would have thought a dozen years ago, that Baren would blossom into the brilliant entity that it is? We're celebrating this great achievement with this special 50th exchange--and who wouldn't want to be part of this record breaking event? If you are new to Baren, this is a great exchange to get your feet wet with the exchange program. If you haven't participated for a very long time, why not take the leap one more time and get reacquainted with your old friends here on the Baren Forum?

Just a reminder that even though we are shooting for 100 participants, we will be dividing the total number into smaller groups, so you will still only have to make around 30 prints to exchange. Each group will have a coordinator to keep things moving along. Prints will be due on or before November 1st. And since this is such a small print, (2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches) cost will be minimal and printing should go very quickly. Shipping can be done in a flat rate envelope for around $5.00 US (international will have to check current rates).

Sign-ups remain open until Saturday, August 13th. Those who have signed up should hear from their coordinator sometime the following week.

Celebrate!
Kristine

ok, it is easy to get rid of the groups, and to alphabetize by first name...
Dave is doing this.
The discount for more prints is already in place.

My space on the site says, "no image available yet." I sent it quite awhile
ago; if you need it again, please let me know. I know the prints arrived,
because I got a "delivery confirmation" notice from the P.O.
What a huge amount of work! Thank you so much!!!

Moving along slowly but steadily ...

The next impression also took quite a bit of time - this was the 'under coat' for the hair:

The impression itself doesn't seem so complicated; here's a rough pull from the block:

But it's actually not so straightforward. First the block has to be moistened in the gradation area. I then dab some pigment at the back of the head. Using a fairly large brush, I then rub the pigment out smoothly, gently 'pushing' it towards the area of gradation, but not running that far. Next step is to use a folded 'wet tissue' to wipe right along the edge of the block, cleaning any pigment off that area. Printing it like this would leave mixed results, so one last step is to use another (clean) brush to gently feather the area where the colour ends. The impression is then taken.

It's difficult to describe, so it would be easier for anybody interested to have a look at the video recording I made from the webcam feed.
