Send Message: To this poster

Hi Everyone!

Exchange 53 signup is now officially OPEN! Details for this exchange are listed below: There is no theme for this exchange, but we do get to do a size of paper called "other." ;o) This time we will be featuring the Yatsugiri-ban size which measures 3.75 x 5 inches (9.5 x 12.7 cm), a great opportunity to use up those odd size papers left over from larger paper-size exchanges. With an open theme, the sky is the limit! This should be great fun!Keep in mind that the deadline for completed prints is on or before August 1, 2012.
A small word of caution here: We all get so busy with life's activities, it would be helpful if you take a moment to look ahead on the calendar a few weeks. If it looks like your summer (northern hemisphere) is going to be packed with many other commitments, you may want to wait for the next exchange. We had several folks overextend their time commitments last summer, which in turn ended up effecting the success of the exchanges they had signed up for.

All members of Baren are encouraged to get involved with the exchange program. It is an incredible way of connecting with other printmakers, building your own skills, and of course, building up your art collection with the many fantastic prints from all over the world!

Subject: Arts of Japan series : print #1 - colour blocks finished
Posted by: Dave Bull

So the full set of blocks for this print is now done. There are five pieces of wood, all used on both sides, and with a few of them containing areas for more than one tone. I'm not sure at this point how many actual impressions will be necessary, because some of those might be 'ganged up' - with two brushes being used at the same time for a single pass of the paper. We'll see.

Here they are, laid out on the bench ... one side:
