When remodelling my house, I found an old cedar plank with a neat grain that seemed to be the essence of wood. So I carved enough to outline the grain, put in the Japanese/Chinese character for wood, and printed it. The cedar was VERY soft and touchy to print ... lots of hollows, cracks, and defects ... but these add character and interest to the print ... at least in my opinion.
The paper is BFK and the ink is Grumbacher water-mixable oil color.
