Kozo (goyu) paper, scandinavian birch plywood.
This was an ambitious print for me, more blocks and colors and
impressions than I'd tried before. My idea was to have each section
of the block printed twice, with the shape both directly defined and
suggested by overlay. I had cut a block with furrows, to be printed
in a darker earth tone, but decided I liked the general lack of
detail, and that furrows didn't add significantly (which is why that
section was only printed once). Also, it took longer to print than I
anticipated; four nights I arose at three to work, and perhaps the
poor light at that hour obscured my vision.
