Artist's comments ...

This self-portrait was originally taken in 2001 around the time that I had vertigo. The only way that I could describe the sensation at the time was "swimming" -- it was as if there was a pool in the back of my head. Although the vertigo only lasted a few days, I was tired and unstable for weeks. Fortunately the vertigo has never returned!
