Hiroshi Tomihari of Oyama, Japan is a contemporary Japanese woodblock printmaker. He is a master of his art in carving, in striking black and white design and oil based printing. His subject matter include the stylised human body which is often incorporated as the design within the landscape. His current work includes detailed studies of clouds or the symbols of countries he has recently visited.

He is my "No 1" Teacher and Mentor. He taught me to carve and print in oils in 1996 and has been a great influence on my woodblock printing since that time.

My woodblock print is of our Australian native Bansksia Victoriae tree wallowing in the strong Australian sun.

    Thank you Hiroshi and Yai.
