Advertising during the Industrial Revolution in the United States relied on bold type and the visage of an attractive man or woman extolling the virtues of the latest cure or time saving device. Printers were the bearers of good news. Not much has changed in advertising. The process is just a bit different. The print was hand printed via the use of a baren.
