Comments: This was an exercise to try to get a deep black in the body of the domino. But rather than using Sumi of varying strengths I tried to build color layers hoping to achieve a rich, deep dark.
However, very slight changes in the intensity of the color glazes changed the color of the domino greatly so some are brown, some green, some mauve, some dark blue--but perhaps not so very "black" as I had hoped. There are, however, some nice color passages and the grain of the Red Birch blocks reproduced very nicely the texture I wanted in the domino.
