Jãrmungandr
Jãrmungandr is a sea serpent and the middle child of the giantess Angrboða. and the god Loki.
Odin tossed Jãrmungandr into the great ocean that encircles
Midgard. The serpent grew so large that he was able to
surround the earth and bite his own tail. Jãrmungandr’s arch enemy is Thor, a hammer-wielding god associated with thunder, lightning, storms, and the protection of mankind.Their final encounter is predicted to occur at RagnarÃk, when Jãrmungandr will come out of the ocean and poison the sky.
Thor will kill Jãrmungandr before falling dead, having been poisoned by the serpent's venom. We celebrate Thor’s many heroic deeds on Thursday (Thorsday).
